{"id":138503100,"date":"2022-08-26T16:22:15","date_gmt":"2022-08-26T20:22:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/acccapital.com\/latest-arkansas-capital-corporation-investment-to-create-65-jobs\/"},"modified":"2026-04-02T12:54:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T16:54:12","slug":"latest-arkansas-capital-corporation-investment-to-create-65-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acccapital.com\/hi\/latest-arkansas-capital-corporation-investment-to-create-65-jobs\/","title":{"rendered":"Latest Arkansas Capital Corporation Investment to Create 65 Jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sovereign Pipe Closes $7 Million in NMTC Financing; Company will be First Tenant in Oklahoma Industrial Park Owned by Citizen Potawatomi Nation<\/strong>; <strong><em>Latest Oklahoma Investment by Arkansas Capital Corporation Will Bring New Opportunity to Severely Distressed Community<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Shawnee, Oklahoma<\/strong> \u2013 Sovereign Pipe Company has announced the closing of $7 million in New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdfifund.gov\/programs-training\/programs\/new-markets-tax-credit\">New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC)<\/a> financing to manufacture high-density polyethylene piping from 2 inches to 48 in diameter, significantly increasing the company\u2019s capacity to serve the oil and gas industry, municipal water supplies, telecommunications buildouts, and other projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project will be the first tenant in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ironhorsecpn.com\/\">Iron Horse Industrial Park<\/a>, which is owned and operated by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.potawatomi.org\/\">Citizen Potawatomi Nation<\/a> (CPN). The industrial park is on tribal land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 50,000 square foot production facility is expected to open in August 2022 and create 65 permanent full-time jobs over the next few years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new facility qualified for the federal NMTC program because it is in a highly distressed census tract with a 50.1% poverty rate (over 4 times the national rate) and area median gross family income of $21,766 that is 37% of the state median gross family income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NMTC financing is provided by <a href=\"https:\/\/acccapital.com\/hi\/community-development-finance\/\">Heartland Renaissance Fund<\/a>, a subsidiary of Little Rock-based <a href=\"https:\/\/acccapital.com\/hi\/\">Arkansas Capital Corporation<\/a>, which has now invested in three projects across Oklahoma totaling $23 million in NMTC allocation. Cumulatively, it has invested $375 million of NMTC allocation supporting over 40 projects throughout the states of Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, and Oklahoma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John A. \u201cRocky\u201d Barrett, CPN chairman, said, &#8220;The Citizen Potawatomi Nation is grateful for the NMTC financing from our partners at Heartland and Wells Fargo, with the participation of our own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdfifund.gov\/\">CDFI<\/a> lender, the <a href=\"https:\/\/cpcdc.org\/\">Citizen Potawatomi Community Development Corporation<\/a>. \u201cSovereign Pipe Technologies is an important step as we diversify our Nation&#8217;s economy to include well-paying manufacturing jobs at the Iron Horse Industrial Park.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cArkansas Capital is proud to be a financing partner supporting Sovereign Pipe as the first tenant in the Iron Horse Industrial Park.\u201d said company CEO Sam Walls. \u201cThis park is an important part of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation\u2019s economic development efforts and we are delighted the project will create 65 quality jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heartland Renaissance Fund is the sole community development entity (CDE) for the project. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wellsfargo.com\/\">Wells Fargo<\/a> serves as the tax credit investor, providing $2.2 million in tax credit equity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWells Fargo is excited to be involved in the Sovereign Pipe transaction as it opens its manufacturing operations in the Iron Horse Industrial Park,\u201d said Lee Winslett; managing director for Wells Fargo Community Lending and Investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>###<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About the U.S. Treasury Department\u2019s New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) Program<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NMTCs were established by Congress in 2000 to stimulate investment and economic growth in designated low-income communities. The NMTC Program is administered by the U.S. Treasury Department\u2019s Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About Citizen Potawatomi Community Development Corporation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Founded in 2003, the Citizen Potawatomi Community Development Corporation (CPCDC), a tribally chartered nonprofit corporation, provides access to capital and business development services to Native Americans to expand the capacities of small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs.
